There are lots of different events that happen in Holmfirth and you'll be very welcome at them all... below are a list of the festivals happening in Holmfirth every year.

Holme Valley Brass Band Contest Weekend      1st - 3rd April 2011

The second Holme Valley Brass band Contest Weekend was held in April 2010 and was once again a huge success. The weekend commenced on Friday 16th with an invitation to listen to the Hade Edge Brass Band as they rehearsed in their band room for Sunday's Contest, On Saturday there were two concerts in Holmfirth Civic Hall including one by the highly regarded Hepworth Band. Sunday saw the Contest itself followed once again by a parade of bands through Holmfirth. 

Holmfirth Festival of Folk      6th - 8th May 2011

Holmfirth Festival of Folk sprang from the ashes of Holmfirth Folk Festival in 2005 and has grown into an extremely popular community-based festival, drawing in a large local audience in addition to the usual 'folkies'. The events take place in the local pubs and on the streets and the vast majority are free.

Holmfirth Film Festival    21st - 28th May 2011

The 2010 Holmfirth Film Festival ran from 22nd to 29th May, and centreed on the Edwardian Picturedrome. This fine film theatre with its original Art Deco features is an important monument to the silent era that once made Holmfirth Britain’s answer to Hollywood.

Holmfirth Arts Festival   11th - 26th June 2011

The third Holmfirth Arts Festival in 2010 featured nationally known people such as Hardeep Singh Kohli, Martin Simpson and Jo Caulfield together with some some of the leading artists and musicians based in and around the Holme Valley. These included Sarah Ogden, Jim Robison, Mick Kirkby-Geddes and Dionne Swift.,

Holmfirth Art Week   3rd-9th July 2011

The first Holmfirth art exhibition was organised in 1967 – its objectives were to provide an opportunity for local artists to sell their work and to raise money for Cancer Relief. Today 2,000 artworks are sold each year and artWEEK regularly raises in excess of £30,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. In 2010 there were be 425 artists in the Civic Hall and 20 fringe venues across the Holme Valley.

Holmfirth Musical Festival  13th - 15th October 2011

Holmfirth Musical Festival is a competition for solo instrumentalists and singers, small vocal ensembles and choirs.

This year's competition, the 66th annual, took place on Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th October 2011, at Holmfirth Civic Hall, Holmfirth, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It included the ninth Competition for the Rotary Club of Holmfirth Millennium Trophy, a prize of £250 for young vocalists or instrumentalists.
